Plastic-free July may be over – but it’s not too late to choose to lose!

Set up by the Plastic Free Foundation, this is a global movement to help support us all in reducing our plastic waste.

Think of it like a New Year’s Resolution but more enduring! It’s a chance to take a few practical, actionable steps to reduce dependence on single-use plastic and to embed these changes into our everyday routines and make them ongoing. Here are three suggestions to try if you missed out on the July initiative. It’s always a good time to go plastic-free!

Instead of buying microfibre cloths and others made from polyester/polyamide (i.e. plastic) which cannot be recycled, you could cut up old cotton t-shirts and towels or re-purpose old flannels for cleaning.  Wash and repeat. Give them one more life – re-use and reduce plastic waste.

Perhaps choose to invest in refillable bottles for toiletries when going on holiday.  Those tiny travel-sized ones, cute though they look, will be used just the once before they get thrown away.

Sending a parcel and need something to protect the contents? Why not lose the bubble wrap and try tissue paper, cardboard or newspaper? Or keep a supply of the brown paper packaging used to send goods if you buy online, and re-purpose it for posting your own parcels. Reduce, re-use and recycle whenever possible.

Small change…big difference.  Thank you for being part of the change!
